Motel 6 Tuscaloosa, AL – University

Rooms designed to minimize transmission of infection or bugs were a little lacking in warmth, but I appreciate the stripped down minimalism, ease of cleaning, and absence of the possibility of bed bugs! The aesthetic remains pleasantly slick and modern. Rooms were very recently completely redone. Front desk personnel was great. TV was hard to operate for me, but I'm old. Walk-In shower, microwave and fridge, but no tub. Everything was super clean and in good working order. Mattress was in good shape, and had a bed bug and dust mite resistant cover. Room was comfortably large, parking lot was well lit, with lots of security cameras. Lots of nearby restaurants within walking distance.

This was a last minute booking due to an issue with the room booked at Best Western, resulting in an abrupt cancellation. The front desk clerk at Best Western was by far one of the rudest individuals I’ve encountered. I found an available room at Motel 6 and approached Barbara at the front desk. I explained the situation, she created a key, allowed me to check out the room and it was AMAZING! Completely renovated and the air conditioner was already on!!! I booked a room on the spot. Barbara and Laura/Lauren were so nice, helpful and accommodating. I am truly grateful for them!!! Definitely will be back! Thanks again Barbara you are AMAZING!!!!!

The location is convenient and in a relatively quiet place as well near some shops for food. Service can be improved. The rooms were nice and exactly what we reserved for however the hot water took a few minutes but otherwise not bad.

This place was great! We were going to an alabama game and found this hotel, which was perfect location wise. The hotel was clean and the service was amazing! The only complaint we had were the chair and bathroom door. The chair is suitable for a toddler. As a larger adult, I was scared to sit in the chair. Additionally, the bathroom door which is a sliding barn door, kept coming off the track. We mentioned the bathroom door to the front desk and they are going to have maintenance look at the door. We are so thankful for the sweet ladies' hospitality. Roll tide!

(Stayed on 12/27/24) A very nice place after a long day of driving. We checked in late that evening, and was able to take the last room for the night. I loved the bathroom layout - the colors were awesome and it was massive! Room was sizeable as well for two queen beds. Beds were comfy enough, a little too firm for me. The room was exceptionally clean, no signs of bugs, mold, or other icks. I think my only big grievance was the horrible sound the heat made when it clicked off every now and again. Definitely would stay here again!

This Motel 6 was exactly what I needed after a long day of towing my RV and arriving after dark. First off: ample parking—huge plus when you’re traveling with a trailer. The front office is in a small kiosk separate from the building, which I actually found kind of charming and efficient. Check-in was smooth and professional. The front desk attendant had my reservation ready, explained the pet-friendly areas clearly, and got me settled quickly. The room itself was spotless. It felt like a recent renovation—clean lines, a barn-style sliding door, and a surprisingly boutique feel for a Motel 6. I don’t usually love purple, but it worked here. King bed, microwave, fridge, desk, very clean bathroom and shower—everything in great shape. And my dogs stayed free, which is exactly why I choose Motel 6. Outside, it was quiet and well-lit. I noticed many long-term working guests cooking outside—hard-working folks, calm environment, and it felt safe. Checkout was fast and easy, and I was right back on the interstate in minutes. Excellent value and a very comfortable stay.

If I could give 0 stars I would Roaches in 3 of the 5 rooms we stayed in On our last trip they kept skipping us on towels Manager was super nice the first few visits then after she mis quotes me on a late check out she tried telling me we owed 80$ for a 7pm check out she originally said 30 then 40 then 80 I ONLY PAID 57 A NIGHT FOR THE ROOM! ALL TOGETHER WE PAID THEM ALMOST 1700.00 AND THE LAST DAY THEY REFUSED TO WORK WITH IS OVER ONE NIGHT AND MADE ME SIT OUTSIDE AND KEPT MY DEPOSIT WELL I HOPE 25.00 WAS WORTH LOOSING $$$$ MORE BUSINESS THE OWNER NEEDS TO CHECK ON ON HIS MANAGER AND FRONT DESK WORKERS ID RATHER SLEEP IN THE DITCH SO MOT GO HERE ITS PATHETIC

Updated. Maintained. Clean. One of the nicest I’ve been in. Great pet policy also.
